Sleepover Joe

You cannot make up this kind of crazy:

When telling the story of how his granddaughters had a slumber party with Barack Obama’s daughters during the week of the Democratic National Convention, Biden equated it to what he says Americans want.

“I believe that's a metaphor, a metaphor for what the country is looking for. They're looking for a sleepover with people they like!”

I always thought the furor over Ted Stevens' "the internet is a series of tubes" gaffe was really overblown. Why is Gore's "information superhighway" slick, while Stevens' "tubes" is stupid? Neither is remotely accurate.

However, the "[Americans are] looking for a sleepover with people they like" metaphor is far superior to Stevens in terms of general stupidness.

Confederate Yankee has the real list of books that were requested be removed from shelves in Wasilla, Alaska. What you need to know, to tell your friends:

  • The list goes back 22 years.
  • There are only five books on the list.
  • Only one of the removal requests occurred during Palin's term as mayor, and Palin is not identified as the complaining patron.
  • No books were removed from shelves as a result of removal requests.

I don't know if Kathy Griffin counts as a celebrity, but if so she's joined the long list of famous people with seriously screwed up personal lives who hate Sarah Palin. Thus far we've heard from Pamela Anderson, Matt Damon, Lindsay Lohan and Pink, that I know of.

Griffith words were particularly inspiring, suggesting that Americans vote for Obama because "How about maybe this time we vote for the smart people ticket. Anybody?"

Check out Commentary's "Contentions" blog, where Jennifer Rubin demolishes the New York Times' weak hit piece on Governor Sarah Palin.

It's kind of amazing that this is all the Times found. Palin seems to be pretty close to squeaky clean.

ABC News hit job

There's reason to think that ABC News deliberately used a lens to make Sarah Palin seem small in comparison to Charlie Gibson. Check out this post. My opinion of Charlie Gibson is plummeting by the moment.

Check out the analysis of both Mark Steyn and Bill Kristol on the Howie Kurtz's remarkable departure from reality.

You gotta watch this. John McCain went on the view and Whoopi Goldberg went off her meds.

My guess is that McCain's handlers have helped with a learned response to incredibly offensive, stupid remarks. Instead of smacking the offender, McCain has trained himself to say "I understand your point."

Also watch Barbara Walters, whose face freezes as soon as Whoopi starts talking about the supposed threat of re-instituted slavery.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Our quote is 'Stupid is as stupid does.'

Epic Fail.

The new Palin-hater blog - Women Against Sarah Palin - has chosen a hilariously inappropriate quote for its masthead. Why? It's from Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and reads "Come, come, my conservative friend, wipe the dew off your spectacles, and see that the world is moving."

The problem is that like Governor Palin, Elizabeth Cady Stanton was opposed to abortion and favored the Republican Party. Perhaps the "conservatives" in the current situation are the hidebound feminists who can't see past a 40-year-old defunct-and-debunked Marxist political framework that has little to do with today's Americans, female or male.

There is apparently something about Sarah Palin that makes people's true selves come out. Charlie Gibson - 'nice ol' Charlie' - revealed himself as kind of a jackass tonight in the first part of his interview with Sarah Palin. Hot Air has the whole thing written up.

There is no question that Obama had the potential to ride a huge wave to DC after his speech in Denver. That was until he came up against a Navy flier who actually knows a thing or two about combat strategy. Classic military strategy involves changing the battlefield and refocusing your opponent. Seems like McCain*Palin has done that.

Makes me very hopeful for what they'd be capable of doing with a bigger field.
